On the left, there is a large group of students, smiling and holding snowmen made of socks, in front of a blue curtain. On the right, we see the hands of a student, as they use a hot glue gun to put a button on the sweater of a sock snowman wearing a grey sweater.

Do you know what the West Point Turkey Trot is? This special event is all about community coming together to do something amazing! The Turkey Trot is 5K run and 1-mile walk, that takes place on Thanksgiving Day, but it is not just a simple race; it is an opportunity to help people in need. Every year, the Turkey Trot sponsors a family in need, giving 100% of the profits from the event to them.

This year, the Turkey Trot is sponsoring a woman named Brittney and her family. Brittney has been through so much recently, between battling cancer and raising a young family, but she has remained resilient and brave.

To help with this cause, our National Junior Honors Society members came together on Thursday, October 29th, to make sock snowmen for the race raffle and write letters of encouragement to Brittney and her family.

Our NJHS members had so much fun at this activity; they were able to be creative, while giving back to their community. These students made a wide variety of snowmen, with all kinds of styles. These snowmen will be sold at the Turkey Trot via raffle, and those funds will go directly to Brittney. It is so amazing that our school is able to support a cause so significant!

To support Brittney, you can participate in or volunteer at the West Point Turkey Trot. We cannot wait to see you there!
